Battle of the Budget Full Suspension Bike. I have 2 bikes I am looking at and would like your feedback. The specs on the bikes are both similar but with different motor manufacturers. The Atom is located several hours away and the motobecane is mail order so test riding is not really an option. I have not done much eMTB but would appreciate your feedback if this would be a good way to enter the market.
I live in Northwest arkansas and we have some great mountain biking with great technical and rolling hills. I have some experience with folding ebikes we travel with and they have been great. Budget is important but I also don't want to buy something I will regret due to poor quality.
Trying to justify if its really worth spending twice the price to go to one of the Big 3 manufactures. Thanks for your help and suggestions. LimboJim Well-Known Member. Fabulous pedal assistance, extremely quiet and efficient. I feel that the middle assist levels of Brose and Shimano are similar, with the most "natural" feeling response on MTB trails amongst the mid-motors I've experienced extensively Yamaha, Bosch, TranzX, Bafang.
The Atom's extra watt hours might come in handy, but to me, the user-controlled customization and firmware update-ability that Shimano offers is awesome.Forums New posts Search forums. I read about them all, the prestigious brands. Rode a bunch too. But could never quite get the value of the Motobecane HAL 5, from "that" internet company, out of my mind. Spent a year going through this evaluation. Finally did a mental exercise. Decision made. I took the risk and pulled the trigger on the no-name, internet bike. Don't get me wrong. I didn't buy the MB just because it cost less. The components are very good, and usually found only on very high quality e-bikes. I like the Shimano E motor for it's size and weight, and it has plenty of power.
Plus, for me, the power and gear shifters are tough to beat for the symmetry of function, and the compact display is well positioned, bold and concise and easy to read at a glance--these are primary touch points that make or break the pleasure of the ride, whether you're riding hard or easy. Most people think of the Motobecane Mountain Bike as brand the covers the medium price range of mountain bikes, but offers a fair amount of customization to upgrade in the future.
In the past, this reputation certainly seemed well deserved. But do the bikes still hold up under scrutiny? Or are there better offers out there that allow for some upward mobility if you want to upgrade?
If you want to know everything about what mountain bike is right for you, then you came to the right place. In this Motobecane Mountain Bike review we will be exploring the brand and specifically the Motobecane Fantom29 Sport bike. We will also look at some other brands and see how the product stacks up against the competition. So if you want to know whether the bike represents a dependable product you can take off the trail, then keep on reading.
The Motobecane features a bike for every category of usage. There are multiple bikes in every category for triathlons, road racing, hardtails, mountain and trail biking, lifestyle riding, and women bikes. The brand holds roughly two to five bikes in each category and numerous hybrids. As you can see, the Motobecane company features a wide selection of bike products you can choose from — too many for one single review.
As such, we think the Fantom model deserves a closer look in this Motobecane mountain bike review. The wheels feature Formula alloy black discs hubs and a twenty-four speed Shimano derailleur system. The Tektro Novela disc brake systems allow the powerful bike agency when it stops. Plus the bike handles with ease on light to medium trails — expect speed and control.
Full Suspension 29er
Part of this is due to the Suntour black alloy crank that comes with the Motobecane Fantom29 Sport. The bike weighs around thirty-three pounds, though this can change if you add, take off or replace parts. At retail value, the Motobecane Fantom29 Sport typically costs around eight hundred and ninety-five dollars.
However, if you purchase it on the online bike retailer Bikes Direct, then it only costs approximately four hundred dollars. The price also includes free ground shipping so that the bike will arrive with five to seven business days. Specifically, we compare it with the Diamondback Bicycles Hook Comparing them also helps reveal the strengths and weaknesses of both sets of products.
Unfortunately, this increase in hardware comes with a slightly higher price. It also weighs more than the Fantom29 Sport and features a smaller wheel size in general which can be a hindrance on harder trails. You can get it in eight sizes ranging from small to extra large.
A simple fork installation can allow the bike to take on much harder, intermediate trails. Unfortunately, it only comes in one color: red. Though we do like the shade of red, it comes it — but some people might prefer a different color.
The tires on the Diamondback Bicycles Hook If you want to replace the tires, then you will need to avoid the tubeless models. The suspension on the Diamondback Bicycles Hook But we would not recommend it for anything harder than light intermediate trails.
The bike remains in the beginner category, but it still offers a smooth ride on light trails. Considering the aluminum frame that comes with the Schwinn S29 Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike, the three hundred and sixty dollar price tag is a pretty great deal.
The product does not offer the same diversity in sizes as the Diamondback Bicycles Hook The affordable price shows some of its cheapness in the hardware. Customers noticed that the brake lever, gear shift and chain get rusted easily, especially in wet climates. In this section, we will go over some of the things we like about the Motobecane Fantom29 Sport mountain bike and some things we think could use improvement.KSL homepage.

But the brake originally came with a nifty serrated washer The rubber rings on the barrel adjusters are dry-rotted and the plastic cap on the barrel adjuster mount nut is broken this is just a cosmetic cap The quick-release lever on the rear brake is bent; I'm guessing that if you tried to"un-bend" it, it would probably break.

FOR Select by Model Coming Soon.As an example, we now see that wine back labels are heavily embellished as opposed to just being a simple info labels. The ecolabels also push the boundaries for accuracy when it comes to color matching and for exploitation of printing techniques, such as hologram printing. As a business, we will continue to advocate these types of security features. We hope that in 2017, and onwards, we will see the end-user segment accepting the fact that there is a correlation between quality and price.
The label business offers numerous solutions that will reduce the environmental footprint of the end-product, which everyone agrees is a positive thing. But the brand owners are not even willing to pay a nickel premium to support sustainability. Cooperation between the label industry and the consumer segment could have a positive effect on our business.
Increased consideration for the environment will attract new generations of label converters who are drawn to clean and idealistic businesses. We at Nilpeter are bracing ourselves for intensified globalization in 2017 and onwards. The world has become a village. So what does globalization mean to the label industry. With digital print emerging as a major trend in the packaging arena, HP proved it was in front of the curve, with a complete packaging line-up and with the unveiling of a new post-print solution and strategic collaboration with packaging giant Smurfit Kappa.
Alongside this, we have seen an impressive uptake of our existing solutions, with the HP Indigo 20000 and 30000 achieving double-digit sales at drupa and surpassing 100 installations across the globe. As we continue to demonstrate to brand owners and packaging converters how digital printing is adding value, creating new possibilities and transforming the packaging industry, we are confident that we will see continued growth moving into 2017 and beyond.
Our new colleagues within Flint Group are all eager to discover the digital concept, which has blown a lot more wind into the sails to expand on a global scale (US, Latin America, Asia-Pacific) and serve our customers in a better way. Converters around the world still scratch their head at how digital printing workflows can contribute to their business and make them future-proof. Not having the need to convince them about one thing but being able to serve them on a broader scale of products does give them a lot of trust in our advice.
And this is becoming more valuable as many suppliers start turning their ships in the direction of labels and packaging. This will create confusion and we think that 2017 will bring even more choices, which makes it challenging for converters to understand what would really serve their business.
For years to come, we will still need different solutions for different jobs in digital label printing. We see efforts being made but I think we are very far from a one-size-fits-all. But even if label printers are taking on digital label printing, so are the print shops, commercial printers, converters, contract packers, manufacturers and brand owners themselves.
The commercial printers have at least 20 years of experience in digital printing, and they know exactly what it takes to integrate new processes. They already serve the brand owners with printed materials, so why not labels too. Converters, contract packers and manufactures are all handling various complex processes on a daily basis, and, of course, they can press the print button of a digital label press.
What they might not know is how to prepare the digital files and how to ensure color matching, and maybe there lies an opportunity. What if the label printer provided their customers with distributed printing facilities. What if each customer had its own digital label printer for small runs provided by their label supplier.
The label supplier takes care of material supply, installation, maintenance, training, file preparation and color management, as well as enables the customer to print small individual batches whenever this is required. This might be a way for them to cling on to the customer and the huge productions that they will still need from time to time.
We see an increasing demand from brand owners and manufactures to have in-house label printing equipment to serve their need for small batches, variable data and just-in-time production. What is a Plus Bike and Who Should Ride One?
And I believe that the only way the label printers can stay in the game is to figure out how they can contribute to that trend. The complexity in the supply chain needs to be managed efficiently. Peanuts or Mondelez or Budweiser featuring HP SmartStream Mosaic software.
With more regulations driving for up-to-date, accurate product labels (such as ingredient lists) and the operational advantages of high-capacity digital production we expect this trend to increase in 2017.
